The cover stories are: * The Canadian government is considering whether to apply a strict limit of 0.2 W/Kg for radiofrequency and microwave radiation exposures to the eyes from cellular phones and walkie-talkies. Visitors to our Web site will find the first few paragraphs of our coverage of the debate surrounding this proposed limit, as well as the FULL TEXT of our overview of the science on which the limit is based. * Funds for research on possible health effects of power frequency electromagnetic fields (EMFs) are disappearing. We report that the U.S. Department of Energy closed its long-running EMF research program on September 30. The first few paragraphs of the story are up on our Web site. In "Views on the News," our regular opinion column, we contend that there are both moral and practical reasons why the DOE's decision is a mistake-as are similar decisions by other major funders of EMF research. The FULL TEXT of Views is also on our Web site. Of course, there is much, much more. The complete table of contents for the September/October 1998 issue appears below. We invite you to visit our site and e-mail comments to . Of course, we hope you will join us as a subscriber --if you aren't one already-- and get all the latest news. Sincerely, Louis Slesin Editor and Publisher P.S. You requested these e-mail updates when you visited our Web site.
