I must say that I see myself as an information provider rather than an expert on the subject so I am really not qualified to give personal advice. I suggest you find all the information you can on our site and others like it. However I will say I would be concerned. You might want to take readings of the EMFs in your home - in various locations, with and without the power turned on - to find fields resulting from the power line , the local distribution line, as well as the home wiring. You will probably want to choose the room with the lowest levels for the nursery. Although we do not know if any levels are safe below 2-3 mG is usually considered an acceptable risk. There have been studies of pregnant women and electric blankets as well as VDT use that have raised concerns. I know of no studies of pregnant women and power line fields, although there may be some. There are also many studies linking childhood cancer and leukemia to power line fields. Chronic exposure is normally the greatest concern rather than intermittent exposure. I hope this will be of some help to you. I will also forward this message to a mailing list of experts who may be able to provide further insight for you.
