........Of what POSSIBLE significance can it be whether or not the
antennas are called an "antenna farm" or not???  Is not the issue
WHAT **health damage** they may be doing???  Some of which has already
been shown by studies which FCC has acknowledged????

Of such superficial "legalities," our government cops out on it
responsibilities for protecting the health and safety of its
citizens from corporate exploiters........!!!

To tell you the BITTER truth, Deb ... that kind of specious "legalized"
1984-style reasoning is much of what we experienced during the Agent
Orange affair with the U.S. Government.....  

I hope SOMEBODY on this list is the writer of high school civics text
books?!?  Please tell it like it is.....  Not like it is taught in the
civics text books....  **Our government has become the ENEMY of the
people, not the defender.....**    The FCC (along with the EPA and NIH)
belongs in the court on the **side of the people** of Lookout Mountain --
just as the government has taken on Microsoft in order to maintain a free
and open (competitive) market.....

Is monopolistic "trust busting" against one company any more important
than protecting the entire public's health from the exploitation of a 
monopolistic INDUSTRY????

Subject: CARE '98 Petition to the FCC-ECFS Comment Search [Result Set]

Many of you may have heard that the broadcasters wanting a supertower on
Lookout Mountain filed a petition last week asking that the FCC pre-empt
the Jefferson County Commissioner's denial of rezoning on Lookout
Mountain.  That document is not yet available electronically.

Canyon Area Residents for the Environment (CARE) filed a petition with the
FCC in March 98 that is still being considered by the FCC.  27 seperate
filings are available to view on line on this matter. CARE contends that
several Federal Laws are not being followed on the licensing of towers
and antennas on Lookout Mountain.  The broadcasters and the FCC contend
that Lookout Mountain is an "antenna farm" and therefore they don't have
to follow any Federal laws designed to protect the environment, historic
areas, Native American sites, endangered species, etc.  You will find
filings from Denver Mountain Parks, Buffalo Bills Grave, CARE, etc.  You
will see the National Association of Broadcasters calling us names and
demanding pre-emption of local decisionmaking by the FCC. You can see
