Subject: cellphone health risks

Hi Roy,
I am trying to find out if any work is being done on possible links
between increased incidence of macular degeneration amongst younger
people (particularly in urban areas) and cellphone use.

My interest is because i developed the severe form ("wet") MD recently,
aged 54.

I noted in the UK Observer 21 November that this disorder, which used to
be rare in people under 60, is becoming epidemic in the UK. There are
concerns that this will lead to a million blind people within 15 years,
affecting those as young as 30.

My retinal damage is on the side (left) that I hold my cellphone.
I realise this is speculative, but the disorder is marked by rapid
growth of abnormal blood vessels (which form a membrane, clouding
central vision) and I noticed that microwaves have been found to speed
up cell division.

Do you have any leads? Do you know if WHO EMR research includes eye
disorders?
