I guess that what I don't understand is: Does the firing of Per Segerback relieve the company of its liability -- even though the company is admitting that it was Per's employment (at Ericsson) which caused his disability???? Subject: Ericsson Outrage ERICSSON FIRES ELECTRICALLY SENSITIVE PER SEGERBACK Long time electrically sensitive employee Per Segreback ( read about Per on: http://www.feb.se/ARTICLES/ellemtel.html ) has been working at Ericsson for many years from his home until September 1999, when he was suddenly fired from Ericsson on November 22, 1999. The reason: his electric sensitivity. In Sweden a company rearely fires anyone unless for very good resons such as there being no work. It is very rare indeed for a company to fire for reasons such as an employees health problems or handicap -- indeed it is illegal to discriminate against people with handicaps. No doubt the Swedish Handicap Ombudsman will have his say on this also. For these reasons, the largest Swedish daily newspaper Dagens Nyheter, November 25 ,had a prominent article on this very unusual behaviour from a Swedish company. A spokesman from Ericsson Goran Wittlock who is represented on the board of directors of Ericsson and thus speaks from on hig in the company, admits that Per became electrically sensitive at his workplace, but that Per cannot work there anymore. He told the newspaper that Per Segerback cannot work in a team, but Per Segerback has told FEB that his work has always been in a team and it has worked fine the last ten years. He is shocked and does not understand the sudden change in company policy. Officially, Ericsson will not admit that they have electrically sensitive employees, but the grapevine has it differently. To these people, this development must seem very scary indeed.
