Hi everybody:
This statement is in response to a number of requests that I have received
concerning "linkage" on my new web-site. Of course, I plan to link other
EMF sites -- but I probably won't link all that may wish to be included.
I say that out of an awareness of the importance of "quality control" in
conducting the EMF-L discourse to "spread the word" about the EMF issue.
I don't claim to have been "correct" always in all of the "include" or "do
not include" decisions I have had to make in the more than four years that
I have been moderating this list.... But, one thing I have learned is
that "quality control" IS IMPORTANT in terms of building and maintaining
the participation on the list.....
I have also learned that "quality control" is a subjective process of
weighing various factors: e.g., relevance, accuracy, readability (for a
general public, not the "science" community), and QUANTITY.....
When readers do "quit" the list (and I personally "feel" and regret EVERY
departure) -- the most frequently cited reason is: Too much quantity.....
........Well, as you might expect, I am now carrying all of that
experience (the "what I have learned" stuff) over into the establishment
and management of my new website..... I intend to apply exactly the same
principles there that I have learned are important to the success of the
discussion list..... (And it IS a success!!!)
I do not print every submission I receive for the list. Sorry, but that
is just the way it has to be..... One criterion that I do NOT apply in
making my decisions 'whether or not to post the submission' is whether
or not it AGREES with me..... In fact, some of you have already "figured
out" that I sometimes try to deliberately stir up controversy..... Yes, I
do.... I think difference of opinion (or differences about what the
"facts" are) is a good thing....
[Nothing would please me more than to receive TOMORROW a rebuttal of all
that has been written recently about the hazards of the cell phones (or
masts) from Motorola or AT&T ... or, you name it..... Nothing would
please me more!!!! I would post it!!! Unedited!!! And, they know
that!!! That is why we have not heard from them...... They are already
listening on this list.......
Moreover, you can be sure that they will not EVER do ANYTHING that might
invite ANY attention to us!!!...... The press ignores us for the same
reasons.... (And the power companies!!) At least two news people have
told me about stories they have written and submitted to their editors --
only to have them rejected, in part, because of subject matter, in part,
because of the internet source of some of the information...... It seems
that there are no editors "out there" these days who do any reading or
research of their own on such matters as EMF. If they did, they might
find out that THEY are missing out on the second biggest
science/technology story of the century......]
Anyhow, back to the purpose of this message ... I intend to **try** to
carry-over all of the same "principles" to the setup and operation of my
website that have proved to be important to the success of
the EMF-L list.....
It appears to me that means that I will NOT decide to link all requests
that I may receive..... At this point, I am linking none, though that
will soon change.....

ALL, what? All the CWTI site? All the court case? All the potential links,
so you won't let anyone down? Seems to me you can link to many which then
link on - like Bridlewood, Microwave News, EMR Network, Facts, EMF
Consultancy. I know you have contacts all over and up and down. The
decisions will be tough.
