Electromagnetic fields travel in space and encounters different material
with different properties, when it encounters a body (mostly water) it
is largely absorbed, when it encounters a metallic part it is mostly
reflected.

Three things happen when a wave is going from one medium to the next:
absorption, reflection and transmission.

If all radiation is absorbed nothing is reflected or transfered, and vice
verse. You have a total of 100%.

If you use the handheld cellular phone inside your car, the emitted
electromagnetic
radiation is mostly reflected off the metallic enclosure of the car chassis, the
radiation is bouncing around inside and You is the main absorption body inside.
Thus your exposure skyrockets when using a mobile inside the car!

Use a external roof mounted antenna to your phone, or step outside!

The same may happen if you are inside a building with metallic plates on the
outside walls, if so, go to the nearest window.

As for metallic implants, most of the radiation will have been absorbed before
penetrating so deep as to reach even a hip bone implant, but the lower the
frequency of the radiation/field the deeper it can go, a 50 Hz field goes
straight through. If it is "safer" with little or large penetration depth is
not known, it absorption of energy is mainly in skin tissue or deep tissue
is probably not the key factor to decide the weight of health risks. Regard
both low frequency EMFs as well as microwaves as potential risks, and treat
them as such. But donīt be overly concerned about metallic implants due to
EMFs, the value of the implant is probably worth the perhaps increased risk?

Life is a hazardous compromise, no one escapes from it alive.
