In the words of San Francisco Neighborhood Antenna-Free Union founder, Doug Loranger, keeping in mind, as Doug likes to say, that the line between malfeasance and incompetence is extremely thin: [begin quotation] The San Francisco Neighborhood Antenna-Free Union's successful October 15th demonstration was carried on every local TV news broadcast, KCBS and KPFA radio, and even appeared on page three of the SF Examiner's front section, the latter complete with two large photos. Our efforts resulted in Sprint removing two antenna applications from the Planning Commission calendar: both the 1335 Pacific Avenue and the Broadway Manor Motel antenna permits. While this is not the same as a formal withdrawal of its applications for both these sites, it strongly suggests that the antennas will not go up at these locations. Thanks to all who participated. [And I would emphasize, thanks to all those who participated through this forum from around the world.] Unfortunately, Sprint is now back in a neighborhood that this past summer successfully convinced the local Seventh-Day Adventist Church to break a contract with Sprint for three antennas. The new proposed location is at the corner of California and Divisadero on the Rassela's Jazz Club building, less than one block from the William Cobb Elementary School, the California Convalescent Hospital, and the Laurel Heights Convalescent Hospital. It is important for everyone to attend the following two neighborhood meetings to express their opposition: Monday, Nov. 13, 7:00 pm, U.C.S.F. Laurel Heights campus, Presidents Room, 3333 California Street (near Presidio). Wednesday, Nov. 29, 7:00 pm, U.C.S.F. Laurel Heights campus, Presidents Room, 3333 California Street (near Presidio). For up-to-date information and/or last minute changes/cancellations, call (415) 77-TOWER (778-6937). [end quotation] As it says on the wall of our editing room, "Never Give Up!"
