DERA (Defence Evaluation Research Agency), Porton Down. Autumn 99 "new
Horizons" magazine Page11.
Mobile Phones : "Scientists at DERA Porton Down have now demonstrated clear
and reproducible effects at power levels considerably lower than those
which would produce heating. However, they cannot yet say whether this is
harmful or even beneficial until further work has been done."
"Dr Tattershall explains : "The experiments, which exposed slices of rat
brain to microwave fields, showed that microwaves can modify nervous
transmission in a part of the brain called the hippocampus. This area is
important in behaviours such as learning and short-term memory, as well as
in epilepsy."
"The frequency tested was 700MHz. Close to, but not exactly the same as
that used by mobile phones frequencies of 900 or 1800MHz."
