Stewart has a fine idea here -- follow up!! -- on EMF projects that
are "talked about" then not heard from again...... BTW, Cindy Sage
has been compiling the results of known projects for some time. She
is not on our list, but her compilation is perhaps the most complete
that is available..........guru........

Back on Friday 9th May 1997 (or just possibly the Friday before), the
Jerusalem Post announced that the two main cellular phone companies in
Israel had agreed to finance a health study based on the Australian
Adelaide Hospital Study (exposing 200 lymphoma-prone mice for 18 months
to GSM cellphone radations).

Israel has one of the world's highest rates of cellular phone usage and
the article pointed out that this research was seen as having priority
after the Adelaide Hospital finding.

I'd be interested to find out what happened to this research. Was it
ever done?

Were, perhaps, the findings released quietly or suppressed? Or was it
all just a piece of cellphone industry PR spin, claiming action was
being taken to investigate safety when nothing was planned or done?

If there are any activist readers in Israel, perhaps they might like to
chase up this article (I don't have a copy -- just an e-mail), get the
details, and begin to ask questions. I'd like to have a translation of
the article also if that's at all possible.

I've also noticed that a lot of German research projects, supposedly
funded and controlled by the FGF -- ForschungsGemeinschaft Funk e.V
(Research Assoc. for Radio Applications based in Bonn) -- back in about
1993, have never surfaced.

I once had a faxed list of their projects (since faded to nothing) from
a late-1993 issue of TelecomEuropa giving specific details as to what
the different German researchers were doing on the health problems of
EMF (specificaly GSM) radiation.

A couple of years ago I tried in vain to find out from Gerd Friedrich,
the head of the FGF, what happened to these research projects. No one
ever returned my calls, or answered my e-mails or faxes.

Maybe nothing of interest was found and so the research never got to be
written up, but also it is possible that the findings are not published
because of what they did find.

Is there a German activist interested in following this up?

We ought not allow research projects to just disappear without comment,
but unless you track them systematically (which I've failed to do) you
just forget about them.

I would be interested to hear about other research projects that have
been listed, funded, never published, then allowed to fade from memory.
