Hi everybody:

I am pleased to forward the following from Dr. Cyril Smith -- one of the
true pioneers in the EMF studies field. The "ES" people will surely
want to save this one (perhaps others will also want to keep it as
well).....

Cheerio.....

ELECTRICAL SENSITIVITIES?

CYRIL W. SMITH, Ph.D.
Honorary Senior Lecturer (Retired),
DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRONIC AND ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
UNIVERSITY OF SALFORD, SALFORD M5 4WT, ENGLAND

(Scientific Adviser to the Environmental Medicine Foundation)

What are Electrical Sensitivities?

You will already know that many of the patients attending the Breakspear
Hospital suffer from sensitivities to certain foods and/or environmental
chemicals which cause them discomfort, or even in extreme cases prevent
them from functioning in any effective manner. Even the most minute
amounts of these substances may on occasions "trigger" reactions which are
specific to each individual. Then, some regulatory system within the
body ceases to function, or gives alarm signals calling for an unjustified
panic reaction. Usually, it is the autonomic nervous system which is the
first to become compromised.

A therapy for alleviating these reactions is called
provocation/neutralisation therapy. It was developed from earlier work
in the U.S.A. by Dr. Joseph Miller of Mobile, Alabama, and further
developed in England by Dr. Jean Monro. It relies on successive serial
dilutions of the substance having in sequence the effects of stimulating
and/or quelling the reactions that they produce. This therapy is not a
substitute for eventually reducing the total body loading of triggering
substances to a level that the individual can cope with by simultaneously
increasing the rate of detoxification and reducing the rate of toxin
intake. However, it can produce a more immediate alleviation of the
symptoms and thereby assist achieving eventual normalisation.

Once patients have acquired a high degree of sensitivity to many factors
in foods and the environment (multiple-sensitivities), they are very
likely to have an abnormal sensitivity to their electrical environment as
a part of this 'package' of symptoms. This condition is to be expected
in those patients having 'end-points_ (neutralising serial dilutions)
of 8 to 10 or greater,

The Electrical Environment

This patient may find that weather changes such as impending weather
fronts or thunderstorms become troublesome, there may be a sensitivity to
sunlight. Fluorescent lighting may make shopping difficult,
particularly if inhalants such as the preservatives on fabrics provide
the initial sensitisation. The patient may experience problems when near
electrical equipment, power lines, TV's, tape-recorders, computers,
mobile phones or one of the many other electronics devices in the modern
environment. A person may even become aware of actually having
electrical things malfunction when they handle them or even when in
their vicinity.

The most Common Symptoms likely to be Triggered Electrically:

Uncontrollable blushing, noises in the ears or head, 'pins or needles' in
the hands and feet, concern about the heart, palpitations, diarrhoea,
bad headaches, general aches and pains, exhaustion and weariness, the
finding that sleep does not refresh, and an unreasonable and irrational
concern about health. These are also the symptoms that homoeopathic
potencies of electricity, magnetism and X-rays will cure in the sick, and
trigger as 'proving symptoms' in the healthy. A hazard of chronic
over-exposure to electrical fields is 'adaptation' to the 'proving
symptoms' corresponding to the frequencies involved.

Testing for Electrical Sensitivities

Just as abnormal food and chemical sensitivities can be tested for, so
can the electrical ones. The original procedure was simply to have the
patient sit a controlled electrical environment. In practice, this may be
a room with negligible electrical fields coming from the outside but, in
which there is an electrical oscillator at a distance from the patient
comparable with TV or computer viewing distances.

The person carying out the test slowly tunes oscillators through all the
environmental frequencies likely to be causing problems. This is usually
from below 1 Hz (Hertz = cycles per second), that is less than the heart
beat frequency, to more than 1 GHz (one-billion Hertz) the frequency
region of microwave cookers and radars.

The patient reports and describes any symptoms as they may be felt; the
tester may also attempt to detect any symptoms before they become
apparent. These symptoms will usually be the same as the symptoms
triggered during foods and chemicals testing. Those frequencies at which
the symptoms are "triggered" or "neutralised" are recorded. There is
usually at least one frequency at which all the symptoms clear up.
Patients often get great relief from realising that symptoms that they
have suffered from for years can be turned on/off at will from an
electrical oscillator on the other side of the room not connected to them
in any way.

If the patient is so extremely sensitive as to be unable to tolerate even
TV/computer strength fields, a tube of a water which is tolerated by the
patient can be given to the patient to hold and succuss (i.e. give the
base of the tube a sharp bang on a wooden surface). This imprints the
patient_s body frequencies into the water which can then be measured away
from the patient in order to find the "neutralising" frequencies.

If a tube of saline is exposed to a magnetic field at the neutralising
frequency, it then becomes clinically effective as if an end-point
dilution, and may be used in exactly the same way.

Suggestions to Patients for using Frequency-Imprinted Tubes of Water

The following notes were written to help patients in the effective use of
their frequency imprinted tube(s) of water:

"These tubes have been imprinted with frequencies that your body needs to
have stimulated. These were as found from either from the tests made when
you were at the hospital or from tests on the tube(s) you had previously
held and succussed, and which were then sent to the hospital for test".

"Treat these enclosed tube(s) as "Master Copies" and do not allow anyone
else to handle them. Keep them wrapped in aluminium foil when not being
used. A safe storage place is the door of a refrigerator (not a freezer)".

"Make your own working copies of the "Masters" for your use as follows:

Immerse a "Master" tube in a glass containing some of your drinking water
(i.e. water that you can tolerate) but, keeping the water-level below any
paper label that may be on the tube. Either, let them stand together for
24-hours, after which time most of the frequencies will have imprinted
through from the water in the "Master" tube into the water in the glass;
or, if you _succuss_ the base of the glass containing the tube and the
water on a wooden surface by giving it a sharp impact while taking care
not to break it or spill the water, all the imprinted frequencies will
transfer instantaneously! "

"Take the "Master" tube out carefully, dry it and wrap it in aluminium
foil, and keep safely for use tomorrow. For use, first try holding the
glass if water you have imprinted and if there are no adverse reactions,
try a drop of the water on your hand, If you feel you can manage to sip
the water, try this once or twice daily to start with; you could try
increasing these sips to once every two hours. If, or when, the water
"feels bad" do not persist. Your body frequencies may have altered, or
you may be in a different environment. Try again a day or so later, or try
when you are elsewhere. If it still "feels bad" you will need to hold and
succuss another tube and have it re-tested by returning it wrapped in
aluminium foil to the doctor through whom you received it for it to be
forwarded for a re-test".

"So long as this imprinted water is tolerated by you, you can make up a
fresh supply every 24-hours, or as required. Keep the tube(s) away from
electric or magnetic fields and again, do not let other persons handle
them. The tubes are best kept wrapped in aluminium foil when not being
used and stored in a refrigerator or other dark safe place, but do not
freeze. Try always to handle the tubes above the water-line so you do not
re-imprint them with any of your own "toxic-to-you" frequencies".

"The life-time or usefulness of a "Master Copy" for you, depends
primarily, on your body's needs. Sometimes, a single dose will do all that
is necessary, after which your body then needs to be stimulated by a new
set of frequencies. Provided your body is electrically stable, its
frequency stimulation needs may remain the same for months or even years,
and the same tube of frequencies will continue to be helpful".

"As the foods and chemicals sensitivities come under control and the body
de-toxifies itself, the electrical sensitivities usually disappear
as well. However, it is worth noting that if a person is working or
sleeping in a zone of "geopathic stress", which may be electrical in
origin, then problems may persist and resist therapies".

Further Reading

For more about the whole subject of health and hazard in our modern
electrical environment, try the non-technical parts of the book:
"Electromagnetic Man" by Cyril W. Smith and Simon Best; it was published
in 1989 & 1990 by J.M. Dent, Ltd., London and in 1989 by St. Martin_s
Press NY. It is at present out-of-print, but there are copies in the U.K.
public libraries system. If you really cannot get hold of a copy, I can
get a photocopy made at cost since the Rights have now returned to the
authors. It is still published in French by Arys/Encre, Paris (1995) and
in Italian by Andromeda, Bologna (1997).
