If one places a Safe Technologies digital milligauss meter atop the keyboard one is likely to see a reading in excess of 100 milligauss. This high reading is related to the screen dimmer. If one adjusts the screen to full brightness the reading will be some 2 milligauss. The MPR-II standard for computer monitors allows up to 2 milligauss at 11.8" from the face of the cathode ray tube. Gateway was apprised. Here is their response: >Thank you for your e-mail. This product complies with the requirements >place on such products by the appropriate government agencies. Should >you have reason to doubt the sufficiency of these requirements, this is >not the channel through which to pursue corrective action. > >We are unable to further assist you with this issue. We have given you >all the resources available to us and must now consider this matter >closed. Electrosensitive persons may wish to run their Solo computers at full brightness. Alternatively, they may wish to consider purchasing from different manufacturers.
