I'm sorry I haven't gotten back to you.  The first public hearing we held
drew a crowd of 500 plus people and all of our tv news media.  After a well
organized presentation from the Citizens coalition against the powerlines,
all of us on the commission made statements to the effect that the power
company better find a way to answer the issues raised by the citizens.  We
then  continued the hearing for 90 days and had the City hire a mediator to
meet with both groups.  The result was an agreement between all parties
providing for the lines to be buried for about 4 of the total 11 miles of the
corridor.  The 4 mile stretch was the part through the neighborhoods and
school areas.  All concerned are very happy, several editorials have been
written about how well the system worked in reaching the compromise, and the
rest of the cities in our valley who are served by the same power company
have contacted me to forward info on what we did.  I believe that many future
routes will be buried as a result of this action.  Thanks for the information
