"Science is a hard taskmaster, and in the light of mounting evidence that suggestions of toxicity are for the most part ultimately confirmed by painstaking scientific inquiry, perhaps it is time to reexamine whether scientific standards of proof of causality - and waiting for the bodies to fall - ought not to give way to more preventative health policies that are satisfied by more realistic conventions and that lead to action sooner."

- From an editorial in the New England Journal of Medicine, April 1987

"A new scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die, and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it."

- Max Planck

"... Sweden has concluded that EMFs do lead to higher rates of cancer ... I, frankly was somewhat impressed by the arguments made by the Swedes."

- President Bill Clinton

In Association with Amazon.com

When I started this site a couple years ago, it was with the intention of providing a research tool for people who, (like me), were faced with getting up to speed on a very complex, and controversial issue, involving environmental health, engineering, and science, with social, economic, and political implications ... and all in a very short time. At my first exposure, I had a single afternoon to do research before an important public hearing.

So, my intent in designing this site was to link to as many sources of information as possible, but have it organized so that people had a headstart. Since then, my focus has changed a little; while I still intend to provide links to the same diverse range of perspectives, the primary aims of this site are:

  1. To provide fundamental, Background Information,
  2. To provide a Historical Overview of the EMF/RFR controversy,
  3. To Distribute Information related to EMF/RFR,
  4. To provide a venue for Discussion of EMF/RFR,
  5. To continue to explore the evolving controversy.
For those of you familiar with the old version of WaveGuide, the organization has changed slightly. The bulk of the material at this site will be found in the Library and the Links sections.

Of course, I will do my best to update the list of links WaveGuide has become known for. I have come up with a new way of maintaining the links database, that should result in increased ease of administration. On the Links page, you will now be able to select from a list of categories related to EMF/RFR, and you will get a customized, up-to-the-minute page generated by a CGI script, that reflects the current contents of the links database. All of the links at WaveGuide are in the database, as well as a substantial number of other related links.

While the title WaveGuide might lead you to believe that this site is about RF NIEMR (Radio Frequency Non-Ionizing ElectroMagnetic Radiation), exclusively, that is not the case. There are many lessons to be learned from our power distribution systems, and the cavalier way we built homes and schools under them ... now we have a choice with cellular (and other) systems. Let us learn from our previous mistakes.

Our bodies function with subtle electro-chemical messages and processes that we are only just beginning to understand. It is absolute arrogance to assert that we know enough to know these technologies are safe. (In light of the scientific evidence, which is at best conflicting, this assertion of safety based on scientific knowledge, borders on misrepresentation.) While it is a logical fallacy to assert that an "Observable Effect" is necessarily a "Harmful Effect", it is equally fallacious to assert that "Not Proven Harmful" is the same as "Proven Not Harmful."

It is time to quit playing politics, to quit allowing business interests to demoralize our communities, and to restore democratic process and common sense to decision-making in important environmental health issues.

Sections of this Site:

  • Home - This Page
This is the main point of entry for this site. Once here, you may wish to bookmark this page; however, I would recommend bookmarking the What's New page for subsequent visits.

  • Forum - A Message Board
Here you can read and post messages and Discuss your EMF/RFR concerns with other visitors

  • Library - Bibliography and White Papers
The Library contains articles written by numerous authors on the subject of EMF/RFR Bioeffects, and Environmental Health Issues. There is also a brief bibliography for this site, and links to other bibliographies.

  • Links - Database of EMF/RFR Links
A very comprehensive list of EMF/RFR, Environmental Health, and Policy related links. You select a category, and a custom page will be dynamically created from a current database of links.

  • Whats New at WaveGuide
This is where recent additions, and topical stuff goes. A good candidate for bookmarking.
